Leeds can only sit and watch as Everton and Burnley continue Relegation Scrap

The relegation scrap takes centre stage in the Premier League, with two of tonight's three matches set to have a huge bearing on who goes down with Norwich City and Watford.

Leeds can only sit and watch with fingers crossed as Everton entertain Crystal Palace at Goodison Park, and Burnley head to the Midlands to take on Aston Villa in the battle of the Clarets.

The third fixture is a bit of a dead rubber between Chelsea and Leicester at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea do need 1 point to be assured of third place, but they do have two matches left to get to the 71 points that will ensure they finish above Spurs on goal difference.

First stop tonight is Goodison Park for Everton's rearranged Matchweek 33 fixture with Patrick Viera's Crystal Palace.

Everton vs Crystal Palace Match Prediction - Thursday 7.45pm

Frank Lampard’s Everton has had Premier League safety in the palms of their hands for the last two matches.

Wins away at relegated Watford, OR at home to Brentford would have seen the Toffees safe by now. But somehow they have conspired to blow it on both occasions.

Just 1 point from those two matches means Everton are still looking over their shoulders. A win tonight ensures safety, in what looks like the trickiest fixture of their three chances to date.

As for Palace, they're unbeaten in four now. They were arguably the better side at Villa Park last Saturday, where they got a draw thanks to a late equaliser from substitute, Jeffrey Schlupp.

This is a hard one to call. My head is telling me a draw, but I'm going with my heart (a bad mistake when betting).

  • Verdict - EVERTON WIN

Aston Villa vs Burnley Match Prediction - Thursday 7.45pm

Burnley's chance to get revenge on Villa for ending their winning run, just two fixtures ago.

Yes, these two sides only last met on 7th May, and here they are at it again. Burnley lost 3-1 that day, and they followed that up with a second successive defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.

Mike Jackson Burnley

Villa have little to play for, but I just feel Burnley have had the wind knocked out of their sails.

I'm struggling to see them get anything tonight, and it won't be easy against Newcastle on Sunday either.

I think Burnley will take a point tonight, but I just don't see them getting it. Sorry Burnley fans.

  • Verdict  - ASTON VILLA WIN

Chelsea vs Leicester Match Prediction - Thursday 8pm

Frankly, I couldn't care less about court cases involving the wives of footballers. But Jamie Vardy is in my Fantasy League team this week, so Brendan Rodgers had better not give him the night off.

After tonight, Vardy can do whatever he wants.

Chelsea will be licking their wounds after Saturday's FA Cup Final defeat to Liverpool. But I can see them bouncing back with a win.

They do need at least 1 point to claim third place on goal difference from Spurs (assuming Spurs beat Norwich on Sunday), and I think they get it tonight.

  • Verdict - CHELSEA WIN
