La Liga 2020/21 Winner Betting Tips and Predictions
It’s not just the English Premier League that kicks off this weekend, the action in Spain also resumes, and so to will my regular La Liga tips and predictions for the 2020/21 season.
The top teams in Spain aren’t in action over the opening weekend, meaning will have to wait a bit longer to see Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla.
Real get the defence of their title underway on Sunday 20th September, when they travel away to Real Sociedad. The first full round of fixtures is the following weekend, when we will see all 20 sides in action.
2020/21 La Liga Winner Predictions
Sorry to be predictable here folks, but it’s Real Madrid.
The odds of 8/11 on Real Madrid and 11/8 on Barcelona shows the bookmakers are expecting a close 2 horse race.
Despite tipping Real Madrid, I’m not so sure this will be the case.
It’s fairly easy to predict that Madrid will finish above Barcelona. The Catalans are in disarray, and Madrid have just won La Liga.
But I’m of the opinion that if Atletico Madrid – and maybe even Sevilla under the leadership of Julen Lopetegui – can get their acts together, they can challenge the usual two suspects.
Madrid are far from perfect
Real Madrid have their own issues. They have yet to see the best of Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale is still hanging around like a bad smell, and will Zidane get away with the dull style of play he employed to grind out last season’s title win?
The style of play at the back end of last season served a purpose in wining La Liga. But it’s not the Real Madrid we are accustomed to seeing.
Zidane also reverted back to a lot of the old school last season. The likes of Kroos, Modric and Sergio Ramos aren’t getting any younger.
Barcelona look in complete disarray
While they might be in a mess at the moment, Barcelona surely can’t get any worse.
On the surface, new manager Ronald Koeman appears to have his work cut out. But it wasn’t too long ago that Barcelona were flying high at the top of the La Liga Table.
Look what happened to Bayern Munich when they changed manager last season.
Yes. Messi seems to be reluctantly staying. But one or two changes in the boardroom over the next few weeks may see a change in the great man’s attitude. I wouldn’t be too quick to write the Catalans off just yet.
The bottom line is neither side look like world beaters. As things stand, it would be a brave punter who would be backing Madrid or Barcelona to win the Champions League.
The La Liga 2020/21 season represents the best chance in years to dislodge the big two
That said, when money is involved, and I have to give a tip, I’m playing safe.
Despite all of the above, I still think Zidane’s team are probably just the safest bet of the four sides. So by the smallest of small margins, Real Madrid are my prediction to win the 2020/21 La Liga title.
