First Goalscorer Betting
It's a simple bet really, you pick a player to score first, if he does, your bet wins. If he doesn't, your bet loses. Where it gets complicated is when players you've already bet on, are left on the bench.
For example, a bookmaker may state If the player does not play or comes on after a goal has already been scored, bets taken on the player will be void. This is generally the case.
These rules can vary, so be sure to check the rules with your bookmaker first. Examples of where rules might differ, is with own goals. If you back Kane to score first with Coral, and there is an own goal, and Kane scores the next goal, your bet would be a winner. This isn't always the case with all bookies though, as some will class an own goal as the winner of the bet.
General rules that do apply are that it is a 90 minutes match bet (including injury time) only. So for example, if you back Harry Kane to score first in a cup tie involving Tottenham, and the match ends 0-0 after 90 minutes, but Kane scores first in the 30 minutes extra-time, your bet would lose. The goal has to come in the original 90 minutes.
It also doesn't cover own goals scored by your selection. So if Kane scored the first goal in his own net by accident, you still wouldn't win.
Examples of winning bets on First Goalscorer would be as follows.....
- You back Harry Kane to score first against Manchester City in the Premier League. Kane scores in injury time (91st minute) of the match, your bet is a winner.
- You back Wayne Rooney to score first against Watford in the FA Cup. Rooney scores first in the 25th minute, so your bet is a winner.
Examples of losing bets would be...................
- You back Ronaldo to score against Manchester United in the Champions League, the match finishes 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes, so the bet is a loser.
- You back Neymar to score first against Man City in the Champions League, the match finishes 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes. Neymar then goes on to score the first goal in extra time (the 30 minutes extra). The bet is still a loser, as the goal came in extra-time, not the original 90 minutes.
Other popular goalscorer markets are Anytime Goalscorer Betting, and Last Goalscorer Betting. They are not to be confused with the First Goalscorer Betting market.
