Chelsea beat Norwich at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to consolidate their position in the Top 4, and the latest betting has them at just 1/7 to stay in the leading quartet, and complete what will be an excellent first season in charge for boss, Frank Lampard.
Lampard's side looked edgy in the 1-0 win over Norwich. The players seemed stunned by what had happened at the weekend, and looked anything but assured in Tuesday night's win.
They clearly must have understood the significance of the match.
Blues boss, Frank Lampard must have used one of his get out of jail cards over the weekend. The 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United was a shocker, so to see Leicester drop all 3 points, and then United 2 points, was a massive boost to Lampard and his team.
And I'm sure it was a boost they weren't expecting!
Four points guarantees Chelsea a Top 4 Finish
The Blues still need 4 points from their last 2 matches though. This ensures Chelsea a Top 4 Finish, and a Champions League place next season.
And the two matches in question are far from easy. First up, a trip to Anfield to face Champions Liverpool on Wednesday 22nd July. Then the Blues complete their season on 26th July at home to Wolves.
There is certainly plenty that could go wrong in those 2 matches.
The main reason why Chelsea are so short in the betting - apart from the stinginess of the bookmakers - is the fact that Leicester City and Manchester United meet at the KP Stadium on the last day of the season in the Premier League.
Having to play each other, ensures one or both will definitely drop points. This gives Chelsea that extra bit of breathing space.
Which with their upcoming fixtures, if breathing space they look like they're going to need.
