So What Is A Parlay Bet?

A Parlay is basically another name for an accumulator or a combo bet. It is a North American betting term, that is little used in the United Kingdom.

You are more likely to come across this term on the internet, but don't be put off by it, because it is nothing complicated. It is simply an accumulator, as eluded too above.

And an accumulator (parlay) in football betting is a bet on 4 or more teams in one bet. So only one team has to not win for the whole bet to win. The flip side is if all 4 (or more) teams win, you win bigger.

There is a bit of dispute in all this. Basically, any bet with more than one selection could be classed as an accumulator or a parlay. Where the confusion comes in, is that 2 selections is known as a double, and 3 selections is known as a treble.

This means you are more likely to be told that a parlay or accumulator starts at 4 selections. In my view anything over one selection is an accumulator or sorts, whether you also call it a double, or not.

Some websites will say it's 2 selections, some will say it is 4. It really doesn't matter though. Make your own decision.

The most important thing is to be sure you understand what it is you are putting your money on. Whatever the name is irrelevant.

If you are doing football accumulator/parlay bets, then it is important to shop around for value. These days there are various offers from bookmakers on accumulator/parlay bets.

They vary from money back if you miss by one offers, to boosted winnings if your accumulator wins.
