The Premier League is back again, hooray.

Those annoying international breaks are something we are going to have to get used to this season. But still, it makes it all the more worthwhile when the Premier League returns.

Prior to week 7, Manchester City were favourites to win the Premier League title, and after their 1-1 draw with Liverpool, that still remains the case.

Watford V Liverpool Match Prediction

The Hornets have another new manager, yes, it’s the return of that likable Italian, Claudio Ranieri.

Premier League Matchweek 8 Match Predictions 2021

I expect Ranieri to have his troops up for this match, and there is always a chance of new manager bounce.

I didn’t think Watford had had that bad a start to the season, so was surprised to see them change manager this early. But hey, that’s how these owners work.

I have to tip Liverpool to win this one though. Yes, they slipped up away to Brentford a few weeks back. But they know they have to win matches like this if they wish to challenge for the Premier League.

  • Verdict - Liverpool Win

Leicester v Man Utd Match Prediction

Right, where do we start with this one.

Would it be too much to say that which ever manager loses this match will find themselves under pressure?

Certainly the case for Ole, but is it getting close to that time that rumours about Brendan Rodgers start to do the rounds?

Leicester have had a poor start to the season, so the last thing they surely need is a visit from Manchester United.

I’m interested to see how this one turns out. All-in-all, United have had a poor start to the season. But they are still only 2 points off top place, and when they are under fire, they seem to pull out a result.

United are also a team that seem more suited to playing on the road, as opposed to Old Trafford where they have just dropped 5 points in two matches.

I’m going for Ole to get out of jail again…. although I’m not sure how many times he can play this card!

  • Verdict - Man Utd Win

Southampton v Leeds Match Prediction

I think this match will tell us which direction both of these teams are going to head in this season.

I think it will be a close win for Leeds, and if it is, I suspect Bielsa’s team will continue to improve in the coming weeks and climb the table.

If the Saints lose, it will be a long hard season for them. And the ‘R’ word will be getting talked about even more!

  • Verdict - Leeds Win

Aston Villa v Wolves Match Prediction

Two sides going through a bit of a transition period, which makes them hard to predict.

Villa are trying to find a system to accommodate both Olly Watkins and Danny Ings. While Wolves are trying to settle under a new manager.

I’m tempted on the home win, but I believe all three results have a great chance here. So in moments like this, I can hear the draw calling me!

  • Verdict - Draw

Man City v Burnley Match Prediction

In the last six Premier League matches between these two sides, the aggregate score is 22-1 to Man City.

Yes, Pep’s men slipped up the other week at home to Southampton. Can’t see that happening again.

  • Verdict - Man City Win

Norwich v Brighton Match Prediction

Norwich finally managed to get their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw away at Burnley pre international break.

I don’t see them getting 3 just yet, and it’s hard to predict them even getting 1 here either.

Brighton are on a remarkable run at the moment.

Graham Potter’s team are only 2 points off the top of the Premier League table, and I can only predict another 3 points for them in East Anglia.

  • Verdict - Brighton Win

Brentford v Chelsea Match Prediction

Regular readers will know I generally predict Brentford to lose, and end up with egg on my face.

Well, guess what, I haven’t learnt anything.

Yes, Brentford have had an outstanding start, and would I be surprised if they upset Chelsea? Not really.

But I still can’t bring myself to predict anything other than a win for Tuchel’s team!

  • Verdict - Chelsea Win

Everton v West Ham Match Prediction

Benitez against Moyes is not one for the footballing purists, but it will be an intriguing tactical clash.

Both these sides have had good starts to the season, but West Ham were badly undone by Brentford just before the international break.

Did that defeat signal the end of the happy Hammers? Or will they bounce back with a win?

I’m not sure in this match, so I’m sitting on the fence again with a draw.

  • Verdict - Draw

Newcastle v Spurs Match Prediction

I’ve been holding off writing this to see if Steve Bruce is still in charge. It probably won’t make much difference, and he could even get sacked on Sunday morning knowing the way football works.

Either way, there will be a party atmosphere on Tyneside on Sunday. But will it be enough to inspire Newcastle to a win?

As for Spurs, when is Harry Kane going to get a goal? Daniel Levy will do well to get half the money Man City are rumoured to have offered for Kane last summer on his current form.

But he will come good, won’t he?

  • Verdict - Spurs Win

Arsenal v Crystal Palace Match Prediction

The final fixture of Matchweek 8 sees Patrick Viera return to Arsenal with his Crystal Palace team.

All the build up will no doubt focus on the former Gunners’ captain, who has made a slightly better start at Selhurst Park than I thought he would.

That said, Mikel Arteta’s team have turned their season around, and I see Viera leaving the Emirates with nothing more than good wishes!

  • Verdict - Arsenal Win
