Tonight sees the final nail biting world cup qualifier for Roy Hodgson’s England when they take on Poland at Wembley…. and luckily for us football gambling punters some of the bookmakers have their regular money back specials to hopefully ease some of the pain if England fail to qualify.
Paddy Power are offering a money back refund on all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score & Scorecast singles on the match if Steven Gerrard scores any time for England (as own goals don’t count). Maximum refund is £/€100 per customer, and bets have to be placed pre match.
Stan James may well have the best or the worst offer depending on which way you want to look at things. They are offering money back (as a free bet) on all losing bets up to £25 placed pre match on First/Last Goalscorer, Correct Score or Double Result if England fail to beat Poland (minimum bet £5).
With the Stan James offer you get a consolation if England don’t win, but at the same time you probably don’t want to get the free bet…. if you are an England fan, that is!
At least with the Paddy Power money back special, you can get your money back if England win.
Personally I would have liked to have seen a special involving Poland keeper Wojciech Szczesny, following on from Brian Clough’s infamous ‘clown keeper’ quotes about Jan Tomaszewski.
Football throws up plenty of ironies, and I have a horrible feeling that Szczesny may well put in some sort of repeat performance and deny England. A bet offering odds on Szczesny making over 25 saves or something like that might have been a good marketing play for the bookmakers tonight.
