Confederations Cup Final Betting

It’s the final I certainly wanted, and I’m sure the tournament organisers, and majority of football fans would also have hoped for these two to be competing the final – Scolari’s emerging Brazil side, taking on the well oiled Spanish footballing machine.

The bookmakers have it as a close call. They have Spain as marginal favourites in 90 minutes betting, but curiously they can’t separate them in the outright winner market.

90 Minute Betting – Brazil 2.75, Draw 3.20, Spain 2.62

Outright Winner Betting – Brazil 1.90, Spain 1.90

If both sides play to their potential I can’t see past a Spain victory. I believe the Spanish are a far stronger side, they have been playing together for a long time now, and at times they can just look unbeatable.

Unfortunately tournament finals can take on a different feel though, and form can go out of the window. Teams can be far more cautious, and as a result of this finals have a habit of turning into nerve jangling, tight events, where the onus is more on not making the mistake that loses the match, rather than going out and taking the initiative to try and win the competition.

Spain usually have one sticky performance a tournament, and maybe that was it in their semi-final against Italy. If they are back on form tonight, I expect another trophy will be added to Spain’s growing portfolio.

One note of caution regarding Spain though. I do believe they are using this tournament to experiment a bit. If this is the World Cup final tonight, no way does Fernando Torres start in my opinion – despite his goals.

It will be interesting to see how Brazil approach this one. Will Scolari be making sure that they don’t get embarrassed, and attempt to keep things tight? Or will they play the traditional Brazilian way and take the game to Spain, and try to show the world that Brazil are the real footballing nation? I suspect it will be the former.

Onto the Money Back Specials, and Bet365 are offering us the usual 0-0 bore draw money back special tonight. Again this applies to pre match bets placed on one of the Correct Score, Half Time/Full Time or Scorecast, markets.

While Paddy Power’s money back special tonight applies if Neymar scores the last goal in this match (90 minutes only). If he does, Paddy Power will refund all losing First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast single bets on the match, up to a maximum of €/£100 per a customer.

Confederations Cup Betting – Spain V Italy

Despite booking their place in Sunday’s Confederations Cup final with a hard fought victory over Uruguay last night, Brazil are still only joint favourites to win the tournament outright, as both they and Spain are now sharing tournament favouritism at Even money.

Last night’s performance wasn’t great, but the Brazilians did more than enough to justify their victory, and 2-1 was probably a fair result.

Tonight’s second semi-final sees a repeat of the one sided final of the European Championship back in 2012. Spain thrashed Italy there, and on current form it’s hard to see a different outcome tonight, winner wise that is.

Online bookmakers have tonight’s match priced up as Spain 1.40, The Draw 4.75, Italy 7.50.

Spain are obviously heavy favourites, and it’s not hard to see why. As well as the superior skill of the Spanish side, the Italians have no Mario Ballotelli or Ignazio Abate, who are both out injured and will miss the rest of the tournament. As well as missing those two, Pirlo is also a doubt for Italy.

As for the Spanish, they have no such worries. I was amazed at the squad the Spanish have sent, there is no one daring to sit out this tournament with a Ryan Giggs’ style ‘sore hamstring.’ These players know that such is the strength in depth in Spain, if they decide they don’t want to turn up, it could be the last that is seen off them. Dare I say, the way international football is meant to be.

Onto the betting, and Bet365 have the usual bore draw money back special if the match ends 0-0. This is where you get your money refunded for a 0-0 draw if you have a bet on one of the Correct Score, Half Time/Full Time or Scorecast, markets pre match.

While Paddy Power are offering money back on First Goalscorer, Last Goalscorer, Correct Score and Scorecast single pre match bets, if Fernando Torres scores the last goal (max refund is €/£100).
