Free Premier League Predictions

Saturday 24th August

Norwich V Chelsea – Away Win

The Premier League’s top goalscorer, Norwich’s Teemu Pukki, comes up against Chelsea’s misfiring Tammy Abraham. On paper it looks like a mismatch. Fortunately for Chelsea, it shouldn’t come down to a straight shootout between the two.

Norwich followed up their decent second half at Anfield with a good win over Newcastle last weekend. While Chelsea have performed well at times in all their matches this season, but have failed to sustain it for 90 minutes. Tough one to call, this is, but I’m going for Chelsea to finally secure 3 points under Lampard.

Brighton V Southampton – Draw

Brighton have had an excellent start to the season, with 4 points from their opening two matches. The Saints on the other hand have zero points, but there were good signs in last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Liverpool.

Another tough one to call, but I’m going for honours even in this one.

Man Utd V Crystal Palace – Home Win

Easy call this one, Palace have had a woeful start to the season, and can’t see it get any better for them at Old Trafford this weekend. Let’s just hope we don’t need United to score a penalty for our home win predictions to come to fruition.

Sheffield Utd V Leicester – Draw

Another tough one to call at this early stage of the season. Leicester put in a brilliant second half away at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea last Sunday, and were unlucky to not leave with all 3 points.

On the same day, Sheffield United gained a good home win over Crystal Palace, and at this stage of the season with the feel good factor at Bramall Lane in full flow, it would be brave to back against the Blades.

Watford V West Ham – Draw

Could be a good day for a roll up of draws, as this is yet another one of those fixtures that is hard to call. Watford are bottom of the league table with zero points, but any team in the Premier League is hard to beat at home.

West Ham are not faring much better. They started with a home thrashing at the hands on Manchester City, before gaining a credible 1-1 draw away to Brighton at the Amex last Saturday.

Liverpool V Arsenal – Home Win

After all the draws so far in today’s football predictions, we are now going for a home win. Yes, Arsenal have had a good start to the season, but this is a real test for the Gunners. Will be interesting to see how this one turn out, and we will quickly find out whether the Gunners are the real deal or not.

That said, this is predicting, and we can only really predict a home win for this one.

It should come as no major surprise to see that host nation, Egypt, are 4/1 favourites in the betting to win the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

As well as having home advantage, they also have the services of Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah to call upon. Currently one of world football’s most prolific strikers.

The Egyptians get the competition under way on Friday evening, when they take on Zimbabwe at the Cairo International Stadium. Kick off is at 9pm, UK time.

The hosts go into the opening fixture on the back of two wins, having defeated Guinea 3-1, and Tanzania 1-0 (both at home) in warm up matches ahead of the competition.

Africa Cup of Nations 2019 Betting

We already know that Egypt are the 4/1 favourites, but what of their main contenders? Well, second favourites are Senegal and Ghana, both at 6/1. They are both closely followed by Nigeria and Ivory Coast at 8/1.

With 5 teams all closely bunched together in the betting, the suggestion is that this African Cup of Nations should be a fairly competitive competition, which is also great news from a betting perspective.

Competition Format

The format for this year’s competition is a bit stretched out. There is 6 groups of 4 teams, with the top 2 from each group, along with the 4 best placed third place teams, all progressing to the Round of 16.

This means that only 8 teams will be knocked out of the competition during the group stages.

The Round of 16 will start on 5th July, and from that day onwards, it is straight forward knock out football. The 8 victorious teams from the Round of 16, go through to the quarter finals. Then the 4 quarter final winners go into the semi-final.

There is a third place play-off match, it takes place on 17th July. This is 2 day before the final, held on Friday 19th July.

In total, there is 52 matches to be played at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations competition.

Host Cities

In total there are 4 cities hosting the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, they are Cairo, Alexandria, Suez and Ismailia. There are 6 stadiums to be used in total.

There of the stadiums are in the country’s capital city, Cairo. They are Cairo International Stadium, the strangely named 30 June (Air Defense) Stadium, and the Al Salam Stadium.

The other three host cities all have one venue each. Egypt’s second biggest city, Alexandria, will host it’s matches at the Alexandria Stadium (Egypt’s largest stadium, holding 86,000).

In Suez, the Suez Stadium will host matches. While in Ismailia, the smaller Ismailia Stadium (18,500 capacity) will host matches.

Where Can I Watch The Africa Cup of Nations?

In the United Kingdom, you can watch the Africa Cup of Nations on Eurosport.

It differs slightly in Republic of Ireland, where as well as being able to watch on Eurosport, state broadcaster RTE will also be covering the competition.

Is VAR Being Used In The Africa Cup Of Nations?

Currently having a good go at wrecking the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, VAR is set to also play it’s part in the Africa Cup of Nations.

But not until the knock out stages. Why is this? I don’t know, is the answer. All I do know is that it won’t rear it’s ugly head until the Round of 16.

Football Betting Predictions Liverpool V Chelsea

Football Betting Predictions – The Premier League title and top 4 will go a long way to being decided when Liverpool face Chelsea this weekend.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool can’t afford any more slip ups in the race for the title, while Chelsea need to get something to keep in with a chance of finishing inside the top 4.

Best Betting Sites

Even though a win for Liverpool is vital, a Manchester City win is far from assured this weekend. Pep’s team travel to Crystal Palace, City only managed a 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park last season, and they lost at home to the Eagles 3-2 this season.

In the fixture between Chelsea and Liverpool earlier this season, the Blues were unlucky to only come away with a point. After having the better of the fixture, Daniel Sturridge scored a late equaliser to deny Chelsea all three points, with the match finishing all square at 1-1.

Liverpool V Chelsea Betting

Jurgen’s Liverpool go into the match as 3/4 favourites with Betfair. The draw is next at 14/5, with a Chelsea win a large looking 4/1.

In goals betting, Over 2.5 goals is 17/20, with Unders coming in at 21/20. Our Over/Under 2.5 Goals page gives you more details about what over 2.5 means.

The Anytime Goalscorer market is dominated by Liverpool players. Mohamed Salah is 6/5, Sadio Mane is 6/4, and Firmino is 2/1. For Chelsea, Eden Hazard is 11/4, Gonzalo Higuain is 13/5, and Olivier Giroud is 16/5.

Liverpool V Chelsea Betting Predictions

  • Even though I believe Chelsea’s odds look a touch too long at 4/1, it is still hard to see anything other than a Liverpool win.
  • It’s very hard to see Chelsea winning the match, given recent patchy form. Beware the draw though.
  • Eden Hazard has been in scintillating form lately, and could be a good bet to be man of the match.
  • Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has shown signs of a return to form lately. He could be a good shout to be an anytime goalscorer today.

Football Betting Predictions – Fulham V Chelsea

After a quiet start to 2019, I thought it was about time to get back to giving out our regular free football betting predictions on the Premier League, and today we’re focusing on Fulham V Chelsea.

It’s hard to predict what you are likely to get from Chelsea at the moment, but not with Fulham. Chelsea are up and down, a good result if followed by a strange one. The knives seem to be out for Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, with sack rumours rife.

Fulham on the other hand have just sacked their second manager of the season, with Claudio Ranieri dumped on Thursday. The Italian lasted just 106 days in the job.

Even with the erratic form of Chelsea, it’s hard to make a case for Fulham. I feel a Chelsea win is inevitable, and a couple of goals also look possible. Therefore our tip is Chelsea to win, with Over 1.5 Goals scored.

Recommended Bet – 5 Points on Chelsea to beat Fulham and Over 1.5 goals to be scored in Match Result And Over/Under 1.5 Goals market, at 3/4 with Coral.

Fulham’s last four Premier League results read lost 2-0 away to Southampton, lost 3-1 away to West Ham, lost 3-0 at home to Man Utd, and lost 2-0 away to Crystal Palace. In fairness, 3 away defeats in Premier League, and a home defeat to Man Utd, isn’t shocking form.

The problem for Fulham is, they were already in big trouble. And this run of four matches has all but sealed their fate. Will there be a new manager bounce? Possibly, but will it be enough to stop The Cottagers rot? Probably not.

Football Betting Predictions Fulham V Chelsea
Can Scott Parker stop the rot at Fulham?

There are was a 2-0 defeat to Man Utd in the FA Cup, and two wins over Malmo in the Europa League. If we are going on Chelsea’s most recent outing, they beat Spurs 2-0 last week.

For today, getting Fulham looking like a team again. Just putting in a decent performance and getting some pride restored would be acceptable for Fulham fans.

Chelsea for their part have had mixed results. An absolute hammering at the hands of Manchester City in the league, was followed by a decent performance in the Carabao Cup Final.

Football Predictions Huddersfield V Arsenal

Due to a combination of an FA Cup weekend, and taking a weeks off after a loss, we are back with our football betting predictions this weekend. The match we are focusing on is Huddersfield V Arsenal at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Gunners haven’t been great away from home lately, they haven’t won away from the Emirates in the Premier League since 25th November. That said, surely they can’t fail beat Huddersfield Town!!

The Terriers are in a woeful run of form, and it looks set to end in relegation from the Premier League. They haven’t won a match in the league now since 25th November, ironically the same date Arsenal last won away.

I’m full expecting a comfortable Gunners win today, by at least a couple of goals. Huddersfield have conceded 46 goals from their 25 matches so far this season. Although this isn’t the worse in the Premier League, it still suggests Arsenal can score a couple or more.

Therefore I’m going for an Arsenal win with a couple of goals today. I’m tipping Arsenal to win and over 1.5 Goals to be scored in the Match Result and Over/Under 1.5 Goals market.

Recommended Bet – 5 Points on Arsenal to beat Huddersfield and Over 1.5 goals to be scored in Match Result And Over/Under 1.5 Goals market, at 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

Surely if the Gunners can’t win this, they can forget about a top 4 finish, and Champions League football. Sides pushing for a Champions League place simply have to win fixtures like this.

Arsenal currently sit 3 points behind Chelsea in the race for a top 4 finish. They have a goal difference of +15, compared to Chelsea’s +22. Chelsea visit the Etihad on Sunday to face Premier League favourites, Man City. Surely this has to be a weekend where Arsenal look to close the points gap, and the goal difference.

Football Predictions Huddersfield Arsenal
Can Unai Emery’s team finally win another match away from home at Huddersfield this weekend?

A 2 goal defeat for Chelsea, and a 3 or 4 goal victory for Arsenal isn’t beyond the realms of possibility this weekend. That would see the Gunners almost neck and neck in the (what appears to be) three horse race for 4th place.

If you fancy a bet on Arsenal on the Handicap, I wouldn’t try and talk you out of it either. They are currently 7/4 at -1, which was almost my tip.

The only reason I went for the over 1.5 goals instead, is due to Arsenal’s leaky defence. If Huddersfield do manage to find the net in this bet, Arsenal would need 3. Whereas with our tip, a 2-1 win would be enough for Emery’s team.

The match kicks’s off at 3pm. It is being played at Huddersfield Town’s John Smith’s Stadium.

Recommended Bet – 5 Points on Arsenal to beat Huddersfield and Over 1.5 goals to be scored in Match Result And Over/Under 1.5 Goals market, at 11/10 with Ladbrokes.

Free Football Tips – Man City V Wolves

Wolves have tucked us up a few times already this season with our free premier league tips, but I’m opposing them again. Sure they’ve done well against the big boys this season, but they haven’t faced Man City at the Etihad in the Premier League!

Man City V Wolves Free Tips
The Etihad Stadium has been a daunting place for opposing teams this season.

Going to the home of the champions, and playing against them in front of their home crowd will be a different proposition. As well as Wolves have done, this could be the night they come undone.

Obviously a bet on Man City will be too short, they are currently just 2/11. So with 90 minute betting odds that short, we will look to the Handicap markets instead.

Man City V Wolves free tips

It’s not beyond reason to see City winning 3-0, or 4-1, so we are looking at City starting at -1 or -2. City at -1 are only 4/9, which is a bit too short for our tips, so we move onto -2 at a healthy looking 6/4 with Betfair.

Recommended Bet – 5 Points on Man City to beat Wolves at -2 Handicap, at 6/4 with Betfair.

Unpredictable Wolves

Wolves have tripped us up on more than one occasion this season. In the matches away at Old Trafford, and the Emirates Stadium, they got two 1-1 draws. They also blew our last tip when they won away at Spurs in December.

Their form is impossible to predict, probably a good reason for not going near them with our tips. After the 3-1 away to Spurs, they lost 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace. They then followed that up with a 2-1 win over Liverpool in the FA Cup last Monday. Just how can you legislate for that?

City Finally On A Charge

City on the other hand look like they are hitting their straps. They now know that they can’t afford any more slip ups in the Premier League, as Liverpool will punish them.

The Reds win away to Brighton on Saturday restored their 7 point gap that at the top of the table. Yes, City have a game in hand, but they obviously have to win it.

Beating Brighton 1-0 at The Amex Stadium is one of those results that teams looking to win the Premier League have to grind out, and Liverpool are doing just that.

City’s last three matches have seen them win 9-0 against Burton Albion, 7-0 against Rotherham, and 2-1 over Liverpool. Yes, the two thrashings were against lower league teams (in Carabao and FA Cups), but they’re not the performances of a struggling team.

Before that, City won 3-1 away at Southampton. The two proceeding matches to that win were the 2-1 defeat away at Leicester, and 3-2 home defeat to Crystal Palace .There were the two results that enabled Liverpool to open up the gap at the top of the Premier League.
