James Rodriguez 66/1 To Be La Liga Top Goalscorer

New Real Madrid signing James Rodriguez is a massive 66/1 with Betvictor to be the top scorer in the new La Liga season (2014/15), which seems a touch on the large side to me. Ronaldo is 4/6 favourite, with Messi a 6/4 chance.

Yes, he may be up against Ronaldo and Messi, but who’s to say that Rodriguez can’t be the new sensation of Spanish football? He’s only 23, so why can’t he be the changing of the guard at Real Madrid?

I know that it’s a big ask to beat Ronaldo and Messi, but both suffered injuries last season and neither man looked 100% at the recent world cup, whereas Rodriguez looked to be a man coming into his prime.

The chances are that whoever wins the league between Real and Barca will have the top scorer, and Real are the early favourites to win the title. Betvictor make Real favourites at 5/6, with Barca at 11/10 and defending champions Atletico at 14/1. I don’t expect Atletico to be so much of a force this season, as they have lost a large part of last season’s team.

Last season at Monaco, Rodriguez score 9 goals in 30 starts (+ 4 subs appearances), and although that stat doesn’t suggest he will blow Ronaldo and Messi out of the water, it does show that he can score at a reasonable rate. And he has just won the Golden Boot for being the top scorer at the World Cup, so there can be no doubts about his pedigree.

In a Real Madrid shirt though, things will be different to how it was at Monaco. Imagine how many more chances he will get at Madrid? He will be playing in a winning team that creates no end of scoring chances alongside goal creators like Gareth Bale. I’m not saying he will beat Ronaldo in the goals charts, but at 66/1 he must be worth a small punt.

Manchester United – 1/2 To Win Nothing This Season

With David Moyes coming under more pressure after Tuesday night’s Capital One Cup defeat to Sunderland, BetVictor are running a book on what Manchester United might, or might not win this season – and winning nothing is 1/2 favourite.

United’s best (and only, some might say) chance of silverware is in the Capital One Cup, but even if they do overcome Sunderland in the 2nd leg, their chances are fairly slim as they will be facing Manchester City in the final, who last night all but assured their place at Wembley with victory over West Ham (to put it politely).

Imagine they do get to Wembley, and City cut them to shreds again!! Ironically, it might not be the worst outcome for Moyes, if they don’t overcome the 2-1 deficit to Sunderland in the 2nd leg.

If you are an optimistic United fan, BetVictor will give you 1000/1 on them winning the Premier League, the Champions League and the Capital One Cup. A Capital One Cup and Champions League double is 40/1, while the Capital One and Premier League pays out at 66/1.

A more realistic bet might be, To Win Any Cup, at 6/4. Or in the ‘Sack Race,’ BetVictor have Moyes as 4th favourite, at 16/1.

What will Manchester United win? Odds from BetVictor (£25.00 Free Bet available to new customers).

No Trophy – 1/2
To Win Any Trophy – 6/4
League Cup & Champions League – 40/1
League Cup & Premier League – 66/1
Premier League & Champions League – 300/1
League Cup, Premier League & Champions League – 1000/1

The BetVictor free bet is for £25.00 and is another of the ‘free matched bets’ which here at football gambler, I much prefer. The reason why I prefer a ‘free matched bet’ is because they are the ideal free bets to use for matched betting.

A ‘free matched bet’ is where you get a free bet to the same value of your qualifying (first) bet, whether that qualifying bet wins, loses or draws. It is in contrast to some free bets, which you will only receive if your qualifying bet loses.

To qualify for the BetVictor free bet you need to open an account and place a qualifying (first) bet of £25.00 on an event with odds at 2.00 (Even money) or greater.

You will also need to have your qualifying (first) bet placed and settled within 30 days of opening your account to qualify for this offer.

Once you have done this, you will receive a free bet in your account. It will appear in your BetVictor account as ‘Promo Cash’ and it also needs to be used in the next 30 days, otherwise it will expire and you will lose it.

As with all qualifying and free bets, please check the terms and conditions on the online bookmakers‘ websites before placing any bets. The reason why I always stipulate this, is because they can change the terms of the offer at short notice, and you should be sure of what you are doing before placing any bets for matched betting purposes.
