Martingale Betting System

The Martingale betting system is one of the oldest betting systems in the world. It is essentially a casino based strategy that involves doubling your stake every time you lose.

About Martingale Betting System

It involves a lot of nerve, and almost certainly a huge betting bank. It is not unheard of to go 10 losing bets (or more) in a row in casinos (that's online and/or physical), and the chances are, you may also get kicked out of physical casino for using a system - if it works!

You would also be using a system on blind luck games in a casino, over which you are simply guessing on what is effectively the toss of a coin, which I could never recommend. Every time you double your stake, you still have the same chance of losing, as you did on the last hand or spin.

An example of how the Martingale Betting System works is -

1st Bet - £1.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
2nd Bet - £2.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
3rd Bet - £4.00 on Red or Black - Lose
4th Bet - £8.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
5th Bet - £16.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
6th Bet - £32.00 on Red or Black - Lose
7th Bet - £64.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
8th Bet - £128.00 on Red Or Black - Lose
9th Bet - £256.00 on Red or Black - Lose

This gives you an indication of how quickly using this system can get out of hand. Starting out with a £1.00 bet, by the time you've reached your ninth bet, you will need to place £256.00 just to get yourself a quid up. And at this stage you will have gambled £511.00.

In the following example, you win on the ninth bet, and you end up £1.00 in profit.

9th Bet - £256.00 on Red or Black - Win

If you win on the ninth bet, you would have gambled £511.00, and win £512.00, giving you a profit of £1.00. I don't know about you, but I can think of plenty of better ways to make (or win) a quid!

So as you can see, there are plenty of good reasons for not using the Martingale system. It is very risky and involves needing a massive betting bank. Also, if you are using this system in a casino and hit a losing run, you might exceed your own daily limit, or you might have to the table or house limits, and not be able to gamble enough to win your money back.

Avoid This System - Especially In Casinos

It is my strong opinion that using the Martingale system is the fastest route to the poorhouse, and should be avoided, especially in casinos.

If you are going to use the Martingale Betting System though, I would strongly advise you to do it on a sporting event that you know something about, rather than in a casino. At least this way, the fact that you know something about what you are betting on, should increase your chances of success - rather than using it on a game of chance in a casino!

In order to do this, you would need to find a sporting events with odds of roughly Even money (2.00).

For example, Over 2.5 Goals in football is generally around that mark, and if you follow and bet on football regularly, you will have a rough idea which matches will fit this criteria.

So for example, you place £1.00 on Over 2.5 Goals in match A, and it loses. You then place £2.00 on Over 2.5 Goals in match B, and so on. Chances are you will have a winner doing this, a lot sooner than you will by betting Red or Black at Roulette.

If You Do Lost Martingale, Be Very Careful

In short, if you are going to use Martingale, be very careful, and use it on an event or sport that you know something about, not on Red or Black in a casino.

There are plenty more betting systems out there that make money with out requiring stupid risks like that. Try matched betting instead, that involves making money from bookmakers free bets, rather than taking silly risks.

You can do Matched Betting yourself, or alternatively there are services that show you how to do it. A list of them are

Profit Maximiser
OddsMonkey

Using these systems, you will make risk free money just from cashing in free bets. You can start of with a little as a couple of hundred quid, and you won't have lost it within 9 bets. There is simply no risk involved using these techniques, just an ability to follow simple instructions.
