Liverpool expected to beat Villa with Goals aplenty

The first match in the midweek installment of fixtures sees Aston Villa host Liverpool at Villa Park tonight.

This fixture is an enthralling one for a number of reasons.

First up, with the FA Cup coming up this Saturday, will Red's boss Jurgen Klopp tinker too much with his side.

Then we have the Steven Gerrard factor. Wouldn't it be just typical of him to go and throw a spanner in the works and make Liverpool's job of catching Manchester City even harder?

And finally, this is the repeat fixture of last season's remarkable 7-2 victory for Aston Villa over the Reds.

I don't see a repeat of that happening, but will there still be some mental scars lingering at the back of some of Liverpool's players?

More pressing for Klopp, is his team selection. With City looking like they are without Kyle Walker, Ruben Dias and John Stones for the remainder of the season, I think it would be premature of Klopp to write the league off.

He must surely put a strong team out against Villa tonight and worry about Saturday after this match is sorted!

Anything else would be madness.

As for the Steven Gerrard factor, wow, imagine his team ending Liverpool's title aspirations tonight. Although I do believe he would be forgiven by the Anfield faithful.

Will Gerrard go on the Attack?

Gerrard played Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins up front together against Burnley on Saturday. Yes, it worked. But can he really try that against Liverpool?

Villa are at home, there's nothing to play for, and he may be thinking why not.

If it pays off, he'll go up further in the estimations of the Villa fans, and wider football community.

If it doesn't work out, then Liverpool get their win, and Gerrard can say at least he tried.

Cynical? Maybe. But it wouldn't surprise me.

Aston Villa vs Liverpool Match Betting Odds

No surprise to see Liverpool as the betting favourites, they need to win this, and they are favourites these days in the Premier League, no matter who they play.

Obviously not against Man City though!

For my prediction tonight, I have to go for a Liverpool win. It's impossible not too.

  • Verdict - LIVERPOOL WIN

But for a bit of fun and for a small side bet, I'm going to go for Over 3.5 Goals.

It's 8/5, and I can see this match having a bit of 2-2 or 1-3 about it.

Premier League Winner Betting

Yes, there is still a Premier League winner betting market available, even though most think it's already over.

It's no surprise to see Klopp’s Liverpool are long shots in it though!
