Everton vs Arsenal tips; Back Jesus to punish Everton again

Football Betting Tips for Everton vs. Arsenal; Can Everton finally get their season started when the Gunners visit Merseyside on Sunday? So far this season has been miserable for the Toffees. And the last thing they need is to see the second favourites to win the Premier League coming to Goodison Park.

  • Who - Everton vs. Arsenal
  • Competition - 2023/24 Premier League
  • Where - Goodison Park, Liverpool, England
  • When - Sunday, 17th September, 2023

Goals hard to come by for the hosts

Sean Dyche may have saved Everton from the drop last season, but he’s already under huge pressure to save his job after just four matches of the new season. Everton currently sits in the bottom three on just one point from four matches.

More worryingly the Toffees didn’t even register a goal in their opening three matches. And the matches were against Fulham (lost 1-0), Villa (lost 4-0) and Wolves (lost 1-0). It’s not like they were facing teams like Man City and Liverpool.

The Toffees did eventually manage a goal, two in fact, in their 2-2 draw away at Sheffield United in the final match before the international break.

Unbeaten start for Arsenal

Arsenal come into the match unbeaten, with three wins and a draw giving them ten points from a possible 12. The dropped points would have been disappointing though, as they came at home to Fulham (2-2) in a match Mikel Arteta would have expected to win.

Keeping pace with Manchester City is difficult enough. So dropping any points can be costly, and that was a big setback for Arsenal in what was their third match of the season.

They did bounce back with an impressive 3-1 win over Manchester United in their final fixture before the international break. But by and large, the Gunners don’t seem to have hit their straps yet this season.

Everton vs. Arsenal Betting

Away from home, the Gunners are 2/5 in the latest football betting odds. This may seem a little short, but Everton has been awful this season, so it’s hard to see what else the bookmakers could do. The Toffees are 9/2 for a shock win and the draw is 5/2.

  • Everton 9/2
  • Draw 13/5
  • Arsenal 2/5

The best football betting sites make over 2.5 goals 6/10 and under is 5/4.

Everton vs. Arsenal Betting Tips

Everton has been a bit of a banana skin for the Gunners in recent years. In the last five matches at Goodison Park, Everton have won four. This includes the 1-0 win for the Toffees last season in February, a result which started the mid-season slump that ultimately cost Arsenal the title.

So do we base our football betting tips on historical data or recent form? A mixture of the two is the answer. Recent form points to an Arsenal win. But historical data also shows us that Gabriel Jesus loves playing against Everton.

Gabriel Jesus is 5/6 to score or assist against Everton. During his time at Manchester City, Jesus scored eight times in ten matches against Everton in all competitions.

He is yet to find the net against the Toffees for his current club, having missed both of last season’s fixtures with injury. But who would bet against him putting that record straight this Sunday?

Arsenal are 11/8 starting from -1 on the handicap market. This would mean the Gunners need to win by clear daylight, 2-0 or 3-1, for example. It does make the bet more risky, but we feel it makes more sense to back Arsenal to win by one clear goal at 11/8, than it does to win the match at 2/5.

Combined, the two bets pay just over 2/1. So, for a £10 bet, you would get back just over £30 if the bet wins.
