Liverpool keep Quadruple Dream Alive with Win at St Mary’s

Liverpool ensured the Premier League title race will go down to the final day of the season with a 2-1 win over Southampton tonight.

Goals from Takumi Minamino and Joël Matip cancelled out Nathan Redmond's 13th minute opener for the Saints and gave Liverpool the 3 points.

The win proves that Klopp’s Liverpool team certainly aren't gifting Manchester City the Premier League title. Tonight's win also means City now know they need to win on Sunday to guarantee themselves back to back Premier League titles.

Going into the match, Liverpool already were without Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk. Those two enforced changes were due to injuries picked up in Saturday's FA Cup Final victory.

So to see Jürgen Klopp make a further seven changes to the team tonight represented a huge gamble.

The gamble paid off though, as Liverpool, along with all nine changes, totally dominated the match.

Liverpool ended up with 72% possession and 24 attempts at goal, of which only five were on target.

The Saints finished with 28% possession, and four shots on goal. Two of which were on target.

Quite simply, Liverpool are a machine. How they churned out another performance like this after all of those changes, I'll never know. Simply outstanding.
