Woeful Arsenal Blow Top 4

Arsenal lost 2-0 to Newcastle United with a dismal performance at St James' Park and look to have thrown away their chances of making the Top 4.

Eddie Howe's Newcastle side were excellent, and the win sees them move up to 12th in the table on 46 points. It also means Newcastle are in with a chance of finishing in the top half of the table.

Which given where Newcastle were at the start of the season, is quite a remarkable achievement for Eddie Howe and his team!

Newcastle 2-0 Arsenal - Match Highlights

On the night, Newcastle were the better side and fully deserved their 2-0 victory.

The 3 points came courtesy of a Ben White goal after 55 minutes, and a strike from Bruno Guimarães after 85 minutes.

What a signing the Brazilian, Guimarães, has turned out to be for Newcastle. He may have cost around £40 million, but he certainly looks worth every penny of it.

As for Arsenal, I can only say they got what they deserved. In the bigger picture, they have progressed under Arteta this season. But it certainly won't feel like that tonight.

A point for the Gunners would have left Spurs needing to go to Norwich on Sunday needed a win to guarantee Champions League football next season. The loss for Arsenal now means Antonio Conte's team only need 1 point.

The Gunners couldn't even make the job slightly more difficult for Spurs this Sunday! That's how bad they were tonight!
