Man Utd 1-1 Chelsea; Red Devils hold out for a point against dominant Blues

Manchester United ended a two match losing streak with a hard-earned 1-1 draw with Chelsea on Thursday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo was United's savour again. The striker's second goal in two matches cancelled out Marcos Alonso's 60th minute strike to earn the Red Devils a point.

United had to survive a first half blitz from Chelsea. They largely had keeper David de Gea to thank for going in level at the break.

The excellent de Gea couldn't prevent Chelsea from taking the lead after 60 minutes though.

Wingback Marcus Alonso swept home a cross from Kai Havertz to finally give Chelsea the lead they deserved.

That lead didn't last long though, as Ronaldo was on hand to score his 16th goal of the season in the 62nd minute.

Such is the current plight of United, holding Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford is regarded as an excellent result.

The draw leaves United 5 points behind 4th placed Arsenal. United have just three games and 9 points left to play for, while the Gunners have five matches left.

As for Chelsea, they now have a 6 point lead over fourth place Arsenal,  and an 8 point lead over fifth place Tottenham. All three teams have five matches left.

In the latest betting to finish in the Premier League top 4, Chelsea are now 1/200. While (I can't believe they're even getting in the conversation) United are 500/1.
