Man City V Liverpool Preview

Both these sides haven't really consistently got back to the peaks of their respectable powers this season.

Man City have struggled without a focal point up front. Injuries to Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus have deprived them of an out-and-out centre forward for most of the season. They have just 9 goals from 6 Premier League matches.

Jesus returned with a bang this week in the Champions League win over Olympiakos, smashing in City's second late on, and helping secure the win.

His goal also seemed to release a lot of visible tension that could be seen around the Etihad. And it's that sort of impact that City have been lacking in the Premier League over the past few weeks.

While for Liverpool, at times they have looked outstanding this season. But there has been the odd calamity thrown in as well - such as Villa Park!

The 3-1 win over Arsenal on Matchweek 3 was outstanding, as was their 5-0 demolition of Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Liverpool's 5-0 demolition of Atalanta

There was also a good solid performance against Chelsea on Matchweek 2, where Klopp's men produced a professional display, putting Lampard's young side in their place.

Man City V Liverpool Odds

Man City Evens - The Draw 29/10 - Liverpool 23/10

It must be a hell of a long time since Manchester City weren't odds on at home in the Premier League, but that's where we find ourselves this weekend.

This is down to a couple of reasons, the slight decline in City, and the strength of Liverpool.

Most pundits thought it would be a close run race between the two this season, and that's how its shaping up.

There may be a huge gap in between the sides in the league with Liverpool top, and City 10th, but it's only 5 points, and City have a game in hand.

But on the flip side, a win for Klopp's Reds, would see them open up an 8 point lead.

City V Liverpool Team News

In team news, City have Gabriel Jesus back in contention to play, but I'm not sure Pep will start with him. Given what happened to Sergio Aguero during his comeback, maybe Pep might want to hold the Brazilian striker back a touch.

I hope this doesn't turn out to be another of those matches where we expect the world, and get absolutely nothing.

I am slightly concerned that this could turn out to be a tight cagey affair with neither team wanting to lose though.

City can't really afford to fall 8 points behind Liverpool. While the Reds know that if they lose, City go above them should they win their game in hand. Both sides would probably take the draw in this one.

With all this in mind, I'm expecting a close match, with maybe both sides cancelling each other out.

Man City V Liverpool Prediction 8/11/20

I can this match finishing 1-1 or 2-1 to Man City. I hate tipping draws, and I also don't like tipping unders in any goals market.

Prediction Back 1-1 draw @ 7/1 and 2-1 to Man City @ 15/2 with Betfair

So, looking elsewhere for value, I'm going to hedge my bets in the correct score market. I'm having a small outlay on both the 1-1 draw, and 2-1 to Man City.

Both teams to score is just 2/5, with 15/8 available on the 'No' outcome. In the anytime goalscorer market, Mo Salah is 13/10, the same odds a Raheem Sterling, while Gabriel Jesus is 5/4.

Elsewhere, Over 2.5 goals is a paltry 4/9, with over 3.5 goals coming in at 11/10.
