West Ham V Man City Tips – 24/10/20

The Hammers take on Man City in Saturday's opening Premier League fixture.

Pep's City team have dominated this fixture over recent seasons. But with West Ham in half decent form, and City having a few injury concerns, could that all change today?

West Ham V Man City Odds

West Ham 6/1 – The Draw 4/1 – Man City 2/5

The football betting odds point to an easy win for Man City.

Odds of 2/5 away from home is very short. And unless you're putting City in your accumulator, they're probably best left alone at that price.

Hammers Renaissance

After starting the season with back-to-back defeats, David Moyes' West Ham side have enjoyed a mini renaissance.

The awful 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle on the opening day of the season was followed by a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal, in what was a much improved performance.

The performance in the Arsenal defeat has been built upon, and it was immediately followed by a 4-0 home win over Wolves, and a 3-0 win away to Leicester.

Last weekend's 3-3 draw away to Spurs may have been lucky with regards to how it came about, but it wouldn't have happened had it not been for the fight and resilience shown by the Hammers.

Injury Hit City Are Starting To Grind Out Results

Man City returned to winning ways last weekend with a hard fought 1-0 win over Arsenal.

They followed that up with a similar performance in the Champions League against Porto, this time coming back from a goal down, to win 3-1.

In both these matches City had to really work hard and earn the victories.

The victories weren't with the free flowing football we have become accustomed to seeing from Pep's men. They were workmanlike wins.

West Ham V Man City Prediction

For a couple of reasons, Man City are way too short to back at 2/5.

First up, City haven't really hit their straps yet this season, possibly down the their injury list. And second, West Ham are playing well and in decent form.

In previous years City have absolutely dominated this fixture, but this could in part have been down the negative vibes from the West Ham crowd (with the board, mainly).

This won't be an issue this season, but I still don't see it being enough to stop City winning.

Tip – Man City to win at -1 on the Handicap @ Even money with Betfair

I'm going with City on the Handicap, but only if they have one of their main strikers - Aguero or Jesus - playing.

Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne are both injury doubts, and Sergio Aguero has started the last two matches, despite only just returning from injury himself.

If Jesus still isn't fit for this one, or Pep doesn't want to start Aguero three times in a week (quite possible in my view), then I would think twice about placing this bet.
