Yes, the international break is over, and the Premier League is back. And what better match to get things going, than Everton V Liverpool.

Everton V Liverpool Tips - 17/10/20

The Merseyside Derby kicks off what looks set to be a magnificent Gameweek 5 in the Premier League.

Defending champions Liverpool travel the short distance across Stanley Park to face city rivals Everton in the opening game of the weekend.

And it's an Everton side who are top of the league!

It’s an intriguing clash for us neutrals. Can Everton keep up their excellent start to the season, and how are Liverpool going to react to their mauling at Villa Park on Gameweek 4?

Everton V Liverpool Odds

Based on current form and league positions some punters might think Everton are good value at just under 3/1, and it would be hard to argue with that.

90 Mins Betting - Everton 29/10 - The Draw 3/1 - Liverpool 20/23

Liverpool have been head and shoulders above Everton for years now. The Reds are the league champions, and in normal circumstances this would be regarded as a routine 3 points.

But Everton have won every match they've played this season, so how can odds of just under 3/1 be justified?

Everton V Liverpool Prediction

If compiling the odds on this one is tricky, then picking the winner is also going to be some task.

Usually in these situations when a match is too close to call, sitting on the fence can be the safest option.

Personally I'm not going to bet on the 90 minutes winner market, but as I am obliged to give my prediction, I'm going for a draw.

Form Guide

Everton have won all 4 in the Premier League to date, scoring an impressive 12 goals in the process.

  • 4-2 Win (H) Brighton
  • 2-1 Win (A) Crystal Palace
  • 5-2 Win (H) West Brom
  • 1-0 Win (A) Spurs

As for Liverpool, their 4 Premier League matches to date have yielded 3 wins, with 11 goals scored, and 11 goals conceded.

That's a lot for a team who supposedly have a solid backline.

  • 2-7 Loss (A) Aston Villa
  • 3-1 Win (H) Arsenal
  • 2-0 Win (A) Chelsea
  • 4-3 Win (H) Leeds

With goals going in at both ends of the pitch for Liverpool in particular, Both Teams To Score has to come into the equation.

Both Teams To Score Betting Odds - Yes @ 40/85 - No @ 13/8

I can see this bet coming in, but at just 40/85, it seems a touch on the short side to me.

In the Match Odds Both Teams to Score market, the odds are just 7/2, which is only marginally better than the 3/1 on the draw.

So if you are thinking about that, just bear in mind you've got the 0-0 covered if you are looking at the draw.

Even though every man and his dog is expecting goals, it is a Merseyside Derby, and it wouldn't be the first time both sides have cancelled each other out.
