England V Denmark Tips - 14/10/20

Gareth Southgate's England are fresh from a 2-1 win over Belgium (Nations League), and a 3-0 win over Wales in a friendly international.

For the Danes, they have beaten Faroe Islands 4-0 (in a friendly), and Iceland 3-0 in the Nations League.

After the excellent win over Belgium, England fans might well be expecting a comfortable home win over Kasper Hjulmand's Denmark side.

But even though the Danes don't possess the fire power of the likes of England, and Belgium, they are a hard side to beat. This is reflected in the match betting odds....

England V Denmark Match Betting

England 3/4 - The Draw 5/2 - Denmark 9/2

The Honeymoon period is over for Southgate

The extended honeymoon period for Gareth Southgate seems to be well and truly over.

The knives have been out for England boss in the media this week. And it's fair to say his team's performances (and behaviour) this season have given the press plenty to work with.

On the pitch at times this season, England haven't been great. In particular, September's matches against Iceland and Denmark were poor.

Even in the 3-0 win over Wales, there was plenty of reasons for criticism - mainly because England struggled in the first half, and the win was as much down to appalling Welsh marking, as anything else.

Then after beating the world number 1 ranked team, Belgium, on Sunday, Southgate has still come under fire.

And it's on the back of the win over Belgium, that I believe England will win this match. I think it will be close, but I can just see England edging it.

Match Prediction - England to win @ 3/4 with Betfair

The Danes have the ability to frustrate England

For Denmark, they are holding their own in a difficult group containing both Belgium and England. A win at Wembley on Wednesday would even see them go level on points with the English.

Their 3-0 win away in Iceland at the weekend seen them open up clear daylight between themselves and their neighbours at the bottom of League A2. Meaning they can now look upwards, rather than down.

Picking up his 100th cap in this match will be the familiar face of Christian Eriksen. He will certainly be familiar with the Wembley surroundings.

In Kasper Schmeichel they have a keeper who knows what he's doing.

Schmeichel is extremely vocal in marshalling his backline, and this is one of the reasons I think the Danes are hard to beat, and is also why I believe this will be a low scoring match.

Tip - England to win and Under 2.5 Goals in Match Result and Over/Under 2.5 Goals market @ 12/5 with Betfair

I actually think Under 2.5 Goals at 8/11 is a decent value bet on its own.

But to add a bit of value to things, England to win and there to be Under 2.5 goals is 12/5, and that's my tip for this one.
