Juventus win ninth straight Serie A Title

Maurizio Sarri's Juventus side sealed their ninth successive Serie A title, with a win over Sampdoria on Sunday night finally getting the job done.

With just 2 matches left to play in Italy, Juventus are now 7 points clear of second place Inter Milan.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Federico Bernardeschi gave Juventus their 26th win of the season, and the 2-0 win finally finished off the slim hopes of Inter and Atalanta, in a league title race that at times, nobody seemed to want to win.

Since the resumption in Italy, Lazio have been in free fall. The Roman's resumed in second place, and harboured real hopes of overhauling a Juventus side who have never really looked totally convincing under former Chelsea boss, Maurizio Sarri, this season.

Lazio have had a disastrous run since the resumption though, picking up just 13 points from a possible 30. A one point, going on a 5 match run with no wins.

It's form like this from their rivals that has enabled Juventus to win the Scudetto without ever being convincing. Juventus themselves have only picked up 8 points from their last 6 games. Hardly league winning form!

In the 10 (Serie A) matches since the resumption in Italy, Ronaldo has found the back of the net 10 times. He has scored in all but 2 of Juventus' 10 matches. You have to ask yourself just where would this team be without him?

Ronaldo played a huge part helping Juventus win their ninth Serie A title in a row, and without him I get the feeling it wouldn't have happened.

Taking to Instagram, the start striker dedicated the win to the Juventus fans, and those affected by the pandemic.

"Delighted for the second consecutive championship and to continue building the history of this great and splendid club."

"This title is dedicated to all Juventus fans, in particular to those who have suffered and are suffering from the pandemic that has taken us all by surprise by overturning the world."

"It was not easy. Your courage, your attitude and your determination were the strength we needed to face this tight final of the championship and fight to the end for this title that belongs to all of Italy."

"A big hug to you all."

Quite what remainder of this season has in store for Ronaldo and co remains to be seen. There are still 2 league games remaining, and then there is the resumption of the Champions League.

This is where things will get tricky for Juventus, and in particular, Maurizio Sarri.

Juventus are already 1-0 down to Lyon after the 1st leg of their Champions League Round of 16 match. Defeat at this stage of the competition would be a disaster, and may well spell the end of Sarri's tenure.
