Juventus continue their stumble towards 36th Serie A Title

Juventus may well have blown their chance to win Serie A at Udinese earlier, but fans need fear not, as it's only a matter of time before their 36th league title is sealed.

Juventus have been in woeful Serie A form lately

Maurizio Sarri's team have been woeful of late. In their last 5 matches, Juve have won just 1, drawing 2, and losing 2.

In fairness to Juve though, the win was against previous Serie A title rivals Lazio, and one of the draws was against Atalanta.

And it's the 2-2 draw at home to the exciting Atalanta that looks to be the pivotal result.

At 2-1 down and heading into injury time, Sarri's team were awarded a penalty, which was duly dispatched by you-know-who, yes, Cristiano Ronaldo.

The draw halted Atalanta's charge up the table, and pretty much killed off any outside chance Gian Piero Gasperini's men had to catch Juve.

In the previous meeting between the same two sides, Juve came out 3-1 winners. This was a crucial result. Because when teams finish level on points in Serie A, league positions are sorted out by head-to-head, rather than goal difference.

Meaning Atalanta's vastly superior goal difference will count for nothing should they finish level on points with Juve.

There is still 3 rounds of fixtures to go in Italy. So it shouldn't be a problem for Juventus to get the required 3 points. They can even draw their way to the Scudetto.

Latest Serie A Betting

In football betting, the bookies have Juve at 1/200 to win the title. So they can't see any problems. Atalanta are 60/1, Inter are 200/1, and Lazio a huge 500/1..

Where there may be problems for Sarri and co, is in the Champions League.

These days the Scudetto is a given in Turin, it's the Champions League the hierarchy are after. And on current form, that looks a distinct long shot.

Juventus are already 1-0 down to Lyon after the 1st leg of their Round of 16 match. Even if Juve can get past the French side, it's hard to see them going further.

And that - along with the hapless finish to the season - could spell the end for Sarri already!
