Norwich relegated with a whimper

The inevitable was confirmed with defeat at home to West Ham, confirming Norwich are relegated back to the championship at the first time of asking.

We've known it was coming for some time now. But when it finally arrived, the Canaries went with a whimper, rather than with all guns blazing.

A 4-0 defeat at home to West Ham sums up Norwich of late.

This is a side struggling in the Premier League, not the league champions, or Man City. It was West Ham!!

Most people at the start of the season would have expected Norwich to go back down. No question about it. But as is the case so often in football, its the manner of defeat, or event of relegation - in this case.

Turning around and asking, well what did you expect? After all, Norwich are only a small club - may well be a fair point. But it doesn't mean you couldn't have done better!!

Norwich Relegated - Writing has been on the wall since the resumption

The loss to West Ham was Norwich's sixth league defeat in a row since the resumption after the Covid-19 outbreak.

Right from the off since the Southampton match, Farke's team didn't look at the races. Players either didn't look ready, or 100% focused that day, and little has changed since.

This is also a Premier League record, as it is the fifth time the Canaries have dropped out of the Premier League.

In the next manager to leave football betting market, Farke is 16/1, that's behind Eddie Howe and Dean Smith.

If Norwich are going to give Farke the boot, it's highly unlikely it will be before the season ends. Meaning that bet looks a no go.

The German's roll in Norwich being relegated must rightly be looked at though.

Farke may well of been on a hiding to nothing this season. But something hasn't been right since the resumption, and the club should take their time and fully review what - or who - has played their part in things going so horribly wrong.
