There’s just two matches from La Liga tonight, with one a hugely significant fixture for fourth placed Sevilla, in their pursuit of a Champions League place.
Sevilla have the chance to open up a 6 point gap over 5th placed Villarreal when they take on struggling Eibar at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. Kick-Off is 9pm, UK time.
Sevilla can get back on track tonight
Julen Lopetegui‘s team have had an up and down time of things since the resumption of La Liga. And this indifferent form has seen their Champions League place come under increased threat.
On the back of an outstanding 7 match run (five wins and two draws), Atletico Madrid have surged past them into third place. And also going well are Villarreal, who have strung together a decent run to get within touching distance of the Andalusians.
There was a boost for Sevilla last night though. Villarreal suffered a 4-1 home defeat to Barcelona, which gives Sevilla the chance to pull away from the The Yellow Submarine, and re-establish their place in the Top 4.
Tonight’s opponents, Eibar, are a bit too close to the relegation zone for comfort. Sitting one place off the drop zone, José Luis Mendilibar’s team are 6 points clear of third bottom, Mallorca.
With the bottom three all having just 12 points left to play for, Eibar look safe to me. Mendilibar’s team may well already be safe, but a couple of extra points for reassurance won’t go amiss.
Sevilla V Eibar Betting Odd
It will come as no surprise to see that Sevilla are heavy odds on favourites tonight. The men from Andalusia are just 2/5, with the draw at 18/5, and Eibar are a large looking 8/1. Odds are courtesy of Betfair.
The evening’s other fixture sees Levante hosting Real Sociedad, match kick off is 6.30pm. Mid table Levante have little to play for, making this a must win game for Europa League hopefuls, Sociedad.
