A combination of defeats for Leicester and Chelsea on MatchDay 32, along with more wins for both Man Utd and Wolves, has seen betting for a Top 4 finish blown wide open.
Top 4 Finish Betting After MatchDay 32
Leicester seem to have hit the wall in Top 4 pursuit
Virtually unbackable a couple of weeks back, Leicester City now find themselves third favourites in the betting.
Their 2-1 defeat to Everton on Wednesday evening, means they have picked up only 2 points from 9 since the resumption.
That's not good enough for a team in 3rd place, especially given the opposition in the three matches.
Frank Lampard needs to be careful
Chelsea had been breathing down the necks of Brendan Rodgers' team, and would have gone 3rd if they'd managed to beat West Ham later last night.
Chelsea's inability to even get 1 point from struggling West Ham might come back to haunt them. It may have even bigger consequences for Frank Lampard in the long run.
Even though Lampard had a free hit in the league this season, from where Chelsea were after 31 matches, to not qualify for the Champions League would be a big disappointment. It would now represent a failure.
United now seem unstoppable
Man Utd just keep going from strength to strength. Everything seems to be falling into place for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and the Red Devils.
Bruno Fernandes has transformed the team since his January arrival. And now right on cue, Paul Pogba has returned from injury to further help the push for a Top 4 finish.
Can Wolves sustain Top 4 push with the step up in opposition?
Wolves have got themselves into contention by taking 9 points from 9 since the resumption. Granted, all 9 points have come against teams in the bottom 4 (at the time), but it's still an impressive run.
There's arguably trickier fixtures ahead for Nuno Espirito Santo's team. They are at home to Arsenal this weekend, before facing Sheffield United (away), and Everton at home.
These next 3 games will show us how seriously we need to take the men from Molineux in the run-in.
Just 3 points now separate Leicester in 3rd, and Wolves in 6th. The betting for a Top 4 finish is also extremely tight.
And with just 6 matches each remaining, Manchester United are now the front runners with the bookmakers, followed closely by Frank Lampard's Chelsea.
