A Pivotal week already in Italy as Serie A resumes

Serie A resumed over the weekend, and our latest football betting review shows there's already plenty to play for in Italy this week.

All things are equal again now in Serie A after the weekend's fixtures. Every team now has played 26 matches, and there are still a staggering 120 matches left to be played.

Over the weekend we saw significant wins for both Inter Milan and Atalanta at the top.

Inter's 2-1 victory over Sampdoria saw Antonio Conte's team tighten their grip on 3rd place. This also moved Inter to within 6 points of Juventus at the top.

Normally a gap of 6 points at the top at this stage of the season is too much for the chasing pack to make up.

But this Juventus side has shown enough frailties this season to keep their rivals interested. And this win keeps Inter within striking distance should Maurizio Sarri's team further stutter.

The 3 points for Inter also leave Sampdoria in trouble at the bottom. The Blucerchiati are just 1 point off the relegation zone.

With Spal and Brecia already looking doomed, it's a close fight at the bottom to avoid the 3rd relegation spot. There are just 7 points separating 8 teams.

Atalanta have been great for Serie A

Back to the Top 4, and Atalanta's 4-1 win over Sassuolo sees them move 6 points clear of 5th placed Roma in the battle for the final Champions League spot.

Gian Piero Gasperini's team really have been a breath of fresh air in Serie A this season.

Atalanta Serie A resumes
Atalanta celebrating one of their many goals this season, take on Lazio this week as Serie A resumes in Italy

Their attacking brand of football has been a joy to watch, and has seen them score a staggering 74 goals in just 26 matches.

Atalanta's next outing is on Wednesday, when they host 2nd placed Lazio. This is a match which could be more beneficial for Juventus, should Gasperini's free scoring team take points off their closest rivals.

Juventus in action tonight as Serie A resumes in Italy

Before that though we have the return of Juventus tonight. Having looked anything but fluent in their recent Italian cup matches, Sarri's team travel to Bologna to face Sinisa Mihajlovic's side on Monday (20.45 kick off).

Bologna have had a reasonable season. Currently in 10th place, they're probably just too far behind to mount a challenge for a Europa League spot. They are also just about far enough away from the bottom to be worrying about relegation.

With Juventus having had a couple of matches to dust off the cobwebs, and Bologna not having a great deal to play for, the 8/13 available on Ronaldo and co this evening could be appealing.

And with Lazio having a very tricky looking fixture coming up just 48 hours later, we may already be seeing a pivotal week in Serie A.
