Who Is Billy Gilmour and where did Chelsea get him from?

Chelsea's 2-0 win over Livepool in the FA Cup on Tuesday night will remembered as the night when the Blues youngster Billy Gilmour showed the footballing world what he is all about.

The 18 year old put in one of the most assured performances from a youngster I've seen since the days of Wayne Rooney at Everton, and Jack Wilshere at Arsenal.

Playing against runaway league leaders Liverpool, Gilmour was outstanding. He looked like an experienced pro, never mind an 18 year old finding his feet at this level.

The player originates from Rangers, he was there from 2009 to 2017, having joined as an 8 year old. He left Rangers for the Chelsea academy in 2017, for what was described as a significant fee.

Gilmour signed his first professional forms for Chelsea at the age of 17, in 2018.

When Did Billy Gilmour Make His Chelsea Debut?

He made his senior Chelsea - and Premier League - debut on 31st August, against Sheffield United. Coming on as a late substitution for Tammy Abraham in the 2-2 draw.

Gilmour has also enjoyed a successful start to his international career for Scotland. He starred in the Under 21 Toulon Tournament for Scotland back in 2017, scoring in Scotland's 2-1 win over South Korea.

This led to him winning the Best Young Player trophy of the U21 tournament, all done in the summer he turned 17.
