Football Betting Predictions – Mick McCarthy’s struggling Ireland team host Georgia at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday, and all the signs are that this won’t be a classic.
Let’s be brutally honest about things, the 1-0 win over Gibraltar on Saturday night was a bit of a shocker. There was no real ambition to boost the goal difference, Ireland looked more interested in keeping a clean sheet to me.
I did feel very sorry for the fans who made the trip across, the only comfort from the match was the win.
I suppose the match was a symptom of just where Ireland are at the moment. They are rebuilding after a horror run under Martin O’Neill and Roy Keane. The reappointment of Mick McCarthy seems more of a steadying of the ship for Ireland, than an exciting new dawn.
Georgia lost their opening Euro 2020 qualifier 2-0 at home to Switzerland on Saturday. They had just 36% possession, and 6 shots. Compare that to the Swiss, who dominated with 64% of the ball, and a whopping 25 attempts on goal.

Republic of Ireland V Georgia Betting Predictions
We’ve had three winning bets on our football betting predictions during the international break, and are looking to make it four from four here.
I really can’t see too many goals in this one. Under 2.5 goals looks an obvious shout to me. Ireland just can’t score goals, and McCarthy’s modus operandi is to try and keep things tight. This all points to a low scoring potential bore draw.
If you think both sides might cancel each other out, then a bet on 0-0 might represent some value. This is priced up at a best price of 7/1 with Betvictor.
5/2 on the draw could be a good call, but to play it safe, I’m going with Under 2.5 goals at 1/2.
