Dortmund Open Door To Jadon Sancho Transfer

Jadon Sancho's proposed summer transfer away from Borussia Dortmund seemingly moved a step closer over the weekend with the clubs admission that they won't stand in his way should he wish to leave.

Club CEO, Hans-Joachim Watzke, is quoted as saying in German publication, Bild, that "you always have to respect what the player wants," suggesting that if Sancho wants to go, he can.

He then goes onto add "We said before coronavirus that our favourite idea is that Jadon will stay with us. I can say that even the very rich clubs, despite the existing crisis, don’t believe they can go on a bargain tour with us. We don’t have to sell anyone below value."

The media and bookmakers in the UK are interpreting this to mean that Sancho can go at the right price, should he wish to.

At the moment UK bookies are quoting Manchester United to be the club in poll position to sign the exciting young forward.

Skybet have the Red Devils as 6/4 favourites. They are followed by Chelsea at 2/1, and Liverpool at 4/1.

The UK media and bookmakers seem convinced Sancho will be heading to the Premier League, but what about the rest of Europe's top clubs?

Could Jadon Sancho Stay On The European Mainland?

Realistically only Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, and possibly Juventus and Bayern Munich can compete with the Premier League financially.

Real And Barca Both Realistic Sancho Prospects

Of these clubs, Real Madrid and Barcelona have to be serious contenders. The two Spanish giants could both afford him and they are both rebuilding.

As an exciting young talent, Sancho would fit the profile of both clubs. And both sets of fans would love the Englishman's attacking flair and flamboyance.

Paris St Germain Have Plenty Of Young Attacking Flair

French giants PSG can also afford the young Englishman, but they already have an abundance of attacking options in their ranks. Could Sancho fit in alongside the likes of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, or would they hamper each other?

Then there is the seemingly ongoing transfer saga of Neymar, will he stay or will he go? If the Brazilian superstar was to leave, could Sancho be his ready made replacement?

Do Juventus Need To Sell First?

Juventus has forked out big money and wages on the likes of Ronaldo and Aaron Ramsey lately. The 'Old Lady' of Italian football is also rumoured to be looking to off load players to balance the books.

There was the on off saga of Paulo Dybala to Spurs and Man Utd last summer. Juve could only really be looking to sell a player of that ability for financial reasons.

If Juve have to balance books, it's highly unlikely they will be getting into a bidding war involving a £120 Million footballer.

Can Bayern Afford The Young Star?

And finally, German giants, Bayern Munich. I think it is a given that Dortmund will not want to sell Sancho to their major domestic rivals.

There is also the probability that Sancho is just outside of Bayern's price range. As rich as Munich are, they would probably struggle to compete with the Premier League, PSG, and the two Spanish giants when it comes to the top priced players.

Of Europe's elite, the bookmakers have Barcelona as the more likely destination. Barca are 12/1, followed by fellow Spaniards, Real Madrid at 18/1. Munich are a 20/1 chance, with no odds available for PSG or Juventus.
