Rumours of a one hundred million Euro bid from Manchester City for midfielder Paul Pogba, have seen his odds drastically cut this evening, with Skybet now making the French international 11/8 to be a Manchester City player by the end of the summer transfer window.
Italian journalist, Tancredi Palmeri claimed on his Twitter feed earlier today that City had tabled the massive bid, and – along with denials of a deal with Barcelona already being in place – this has sent the rumour mill into overdrive.
Pogba is arguably the most sought after player in Europe at the moment, and with the summer transfer window opening today, could there be some substance to this story, or is it just journalists putting two and two together and coming up with five?
One thing that isn’t in dispute, is that along with Barcelona, Manchester City are definitely interested in signing the French midfielder to freshen up their lethargic looking midfield. Yaya Toure’s time at Manchester City looks to have come to an end, and Pogba would be the ideal replacement.
City didn’t have the greatest summer for new recruitments last year, and this could be one of the reason’s why Manuel Pellegrini has kept his job. Basically someone else is carrying the can for not providing the manager with the tools to do his job.
The club’s hierarchy won’t want a repeat performance of that this summer, and getting their hands on Pogba would be seen as a great start to the required summer rebuilding programme.
The latest betting on Paul Pogba’s club after the summer transfer window sees Manchester City at a best price of 11/8, and Barcelona at 5/1, both with Skybet. Or you can get 9/10 on him still being at Juventus with 888Sport.
