If Jose thinks Chelsea are outsides and not a good bet to win the league, then I wonder what he might think about their prospects of winning a double, or maybe even a treble?
Contrary to what Jose says (not believes), the bookies are taking the prospect of Chelsea winning a trophy, or multiple trophies seriously, and have priced up some markets covering this.
Starting with the treble, and this is a best price of 100/1 with BetVictor (who offer a £25.00 Free Bet to new customers).
If you fancy Chelsea to win no trophy, the best price is 10/11 with BetVictor, while any trophy is also 10/11 with BetVictor (who are currently the only bookmaker offering prices on both of these markets).
For a Premier League/FA Cup double, Skybet are offering 12/1. They also go 28/1 for a Premier League/Champions League double, and 66/1 on a Champions League/FA Cup double.
Chelsea are up against Galatasaray in the last 16 of the Champions League, which is obviously a winnable tie for them. They are fifth favourites to win the Champions League for a second time, coming in at a best price of 14/1 with Betfred.
They visit Manchester City again in the next round of the FA Cup. They have obviously shown City they can beat them, and Mourinho also knows he has a psychological edge over Pellegrini from their days back in Spain.
Like the Manchester City quadruple, a Chelsea treble is a hell of a long shot…. hence the long odds. That said, neither are impossible, and particularly in the case of Chelsea as they seem to be hitting form at the right time of the season.
The FA Cup is possibly the biggest problem for Chelsea, with another visit to Manchester City in the fifth round.
Another possible problem I see with the treble bet, is that the FA Cup could end up being the competition that Jose Mourinho decides isn’t that important, and maybe doesn’t put out the strongest side at the Etihad Stadium this Saturday.
With this in mind, maybe the 28/1 on offer with Skybet (£30.00 Free Bet available) for a Champions League/Premier League double could be a good shout.
