Confederations Cup Betting – Spain V Italy
Despite booking their place in Sunday’s Confederations Cup final with a hard fought victory over Uruguay last night, Brazil are still only joint favourites to win the tournament outright, as both they and Spain are now sharing tournament favouritism at Even money.
Last night’s performance wasn’t great, but the Brazilians did more than enough to justify their victory, and 2-1 was probably a fair result.
Tonight’s second semi-final sees a repeat of the one sided final of the European Championship back in 2012. Spain thrashed Italy there, and on current form it’s hard to see a different outcome tonight, winner wise that is.
Online bookmakers have tonight’s match priced up as Spain 1.40, The Draw 4.75, Italy 7.50.
Spain are obviously heavy favourites, and it’s not hard to see why. As well as the superior skill of the Spanish side, the Italians have no Mario Ballotelli or Ignazio Abate, who are both out injured and will miss the rest of the tournament. As well as missing those two, Pirlo is also a doubt for Italy.
As for the Spanish, they have no such worries. I was amazed at the squad the Spanish have sent, there is no one daring to sit out this tournament with a Ryan Giggs’ style ‘sore hamstring.’ These players know that such is the strength in depth in Spain, if they decide they don’t want to turn up, it could be the last that is seen off them. Dare I say, the way international football is meant to be.
Onto the betting, and Bet365 have the usual bore draw money back special if the match ends 0-0. This is where you get your money refunded for a 0-0 draw if you have a bet on one of the Correct Score, Half Time/Full Time or Scorecast, markets pre match.
