The second round of group matches in the Confederations Cup start today, with Brazil taking on Mexico in the early game, and Italy V Japan the second match of the night.
So far the competition has been quite entertaining, with only Tahiti really looking out of place….. although it could be argued Uruguay did as well.
The Uruguay match in question, against Spain, has seen the Spanish made joint favourites with Brazil to win the competition, they are now both 2.37 (Brazil were initially outright favourites).
Personally, I would have Spain as outright favourites. Their 2-1 win over Uruguay on Sunday night was as big a 2-1 hammering as you can get (if you follow that logic).
Back to tonight’s games, and it’s no surprise to see Brazil as heavy odds on favourites again (they were also against Japan). Brazil are 1.36, the draw 4.75, and Mexico are 8.50.
The late kick off sees Italy 1.83, the draw 3.40 and Japan 4.50. The Italians can all but qualify for the semi-final with victory tonight.
The usual Bet365 0-0 bore draw refund promotion applies to tonight’s matches. This is where you get your money back on all pre-match Correct Score, Half-Time/Full-Time or Scorecast bets, if the match finishes 0-0.
Onto the outright winner Confederations Cup betting, and as mentioned above, the Spanish are now joint favourites to win the tournament. The betting suggests a two horse race, but any seasoned football watcher knows the Italians have a tournament mentality, and as a result, shouldn’t be written off lightly.
