Chelsea’s elimination from the FA Cup today has seen Carlo Ancelotti and David Moyes swap places in the next Premier League manager to leave post betting with Sky Bet.
At the start of play Moyes was 2nd favourite, that has now changed with Ancelotti into 5/1, 2nd favourite and Moyes out to 6/1.
I don’t personally believe there was or is much chance of Moyes getting sacked, I think the opinion was based on Moyes’ body language in the defeat at Bolton, where he had the look of a man who had taken his team as far as he could on the resources available to him.
Ancelotti surely needs a good result in the Champions League against Copenhagen on Tuesday. He’ll probably survive the 1st leg, but elimination will surely be fatal for the Italian.
Unsurprisingly Avram Grant is still the favourite, he is currently odds on at 8/11. Grant seems to have been favourite all season and is still hanging in there. He has already seen off Chris Hughton, Roy Hodgson, Sam Allardyce and Roberto Di Matteo.
Other notable candidates are Roberto Martinez 7/1, Mick McCarthy 9/1, Ian Holloway 10/1, Alan Pardew and Mark Hughes 12/1 and both Alex McLeish and Steve Bruce at 16/1.
The biggest mover in the other direction is Gerald Houllier who is now out to 25/1 after looking like a dead man walking just over a month ago. I was also surprised to see Roberto Mancini out at 25/1 after been as short as 3/1 back in November.
