Colin Murray to present MOTD 2

It was announced on Thusday evening by the BBC that Colin Murray is to be the new host of Match of the Day 2 following the departure of Adrian Chiles to ITV over a matter of principle, and not forgetting the lucrative contract.

As a regular listener to 5 Live, I have grown to like Murray’s cheeky chappy nature which is a break from the sometimes stuffy approach you can get from the BBC.

With MOTD 2 being more of a light hearted look back at the weekends football, Murray should be just the right man to host the show.

Of his time working on Five TV, Murray said, “I would like to thank Five TV for allowing me to take this opportunity and I am very proud to have been a part of the great strides forward they have taken.”

Does this mean a possible return to the heady days of John Barnes presenting Five TV’s, Europa League coverage?

After all it had just about become watchable this season.
