Barcelona (21/10) are still the bookies favourite in the latest Champions League Betting after drawing Arsenal in the last 8 of the competition.
Arsene Wenger’s claim that he is happy to face them now is not one that I’m convinced off, I’m sure he had his fingers crossed and jumped for joy when the tie came out of the hat. As a result of Friday’s draw, Arsenal’s odds have drifted out from 7/1, to 11/1.
The meeting is one for the football purists and in Arsenal’s favour is the fact that they are good at keeping the ball, something you need to be against Barca, as with the ball Messi and co will take some stopping.
Still, would have fancied Arsenal more if they only had to face them for 90 mins, rather than the 180. Whoever wins that will probably face Inter Milan (4/1), who drew CSKA Moscow (50/1) the tournament outsiders.
The draw would, in theory, appear to have favoured Manchester United (10/3) in their bid to reach a 3rd final in a row.
United will face Bayern Munich (12/1) in the last 8, and if they win that they will face one of the two French sides, Lyon (16/1) or Bordeaux (20/1).
I have already heard many people commenting that United are already in the final, but I wouldn’t subscribe to that theory such is the improvement in form of the German side. Robben and Ribery have been in good from lately and I doubt Alex Ferguson fancies Gary Neville’s chances against either of them, I expect Park Ji-Sung might get a run out in this match.
