Barcelona are now into 15/8 across the board (from 9/4) to defend their Champions League title and add further insult to Real Madrid by doing it in their Bernabeu home.
Their 4-0 destruction of Stuttgart tonight will surely leave the other remaining seven teams wanting to avoid them in the quarter-final draw, which can be seen on Sky Sports News live at 10.45am on Friday.
It’s hard to see anyone beating Barcelona over 180 minutes at the moment, the only real way I can see them losing is in the – one off match – Final.
Of the other teams, their closest rivals on paper are Manchester United who are 7/2, 2nd Fav’s, they also looked impressive in dumping out AC Milan last week. Next come Chelsea’s conquerors Inter Milan, who are 9/2, followed by the resurgent Arsenal at 7/1.
With their injuries, Arsenal might not have the squad to attack on two fronts and it remains to be seen if Arsene Wenger might decide to concentrate on one of the Premier League or the Champions League, although he will probably go for both.
The bookmakers four outsiders are Bayern Munich at 12/1, Lyon 16/1, Bordeaux 20/1 and CSKA Moscow who are 40/1.
Of those four Lyon looked good in knocking out Real last week, if they can avoid Barcelona in the draw they could be a good outside bet.
