After yesterdays defeat away at Hull, any distant hope Manchester City had clinged onto that they could win the league surely disappeared. They would have to win their 2 games in hand on current leaders Manchester United just to be 9 points behind with 13 games left, if Chelsea win later today, then they would be a further 2 points ahead of Man United with the same number of games played.
Of the other Top 4 finish candidates, Spurs and Villa played out a goalless draw at White Hart Lane. Earlier in the day Liverpool continued their surge on their ‘guaranteed’ 4th place finish with a well earned 1-0 win over Everton, while down to 10 men. Liverpool have now picked up 17 points from 21 over their last 7 games.
The online bookmakers seem to be taking Liverpool’s recent run of good form into consideration as they now have them as favourites at a best price of 13/10. Man City had been the favourites until recently, but have now drifted out to 7/5.
